The airline celebrated its inaugural flights between Birmingham Airport and Madrid and Lisbon this month with cabin crew greeting passengers at check-in with champagne and cupcakes. Monarch’s very first flight to Madrid was 48 years ago. To mark the occasion, several of the crew were dressed in vintage airline uniforms.
“We are delighted to add 2 new routes to our Birmingham programme,” noted, Adrian Tighe, Chief Commercial Officer, Monarch. “We are the only United Kingdom airline to fly direct to Lisbon from Birmingham Airport and now our customers have 2 new city break destinations to choose from when flying out of Birmingham Airport with Monarch.”
“Monarch is a reputable and longstanding partner of ours and adding two new capital cities to the portfolio of destinations available from Birmingham demonstrates the carrier’s commitment to the region and ambition to offer reliable, affordable travel for Midlanders,” explained, William Pearson, Aviation Development Director, Birmingham Airport. “We congratulate the team for the successful launch of its Madrid and Lisbon flights and look forward to working with them over the busy summer months.”
The Spanish capital is renowned for its wealth of vibrancy day and night, excellent food and wine and a host of cultural experiences. Portugal’s capital city is known for being a popular year-round beach destination and cultural haven.
Flights will operate 3 times per week to Madrid and 4 times a week to Lisbon. Yellow Travel is excited to be surpassing the needs of passengers with the finest Birmingham Airport transfer services in the West Midlands.
