Yellow Cars says new proposals that could see a major clampdown on bad behaviour behind the wheel may mean more severe penalties for breaking the rules of the road.
Darren Thorpe, Yellow Cars Managing Director said, “The Department for Transport is putting £2.75 million towards research into the education of drivers and increasing anti-drug driving resources for police forces. Then there’s a £50 million grant for safer cycle training in our schools. Road safety thinking must start at grass roots level and another big change will be that learner drivers will be able to be taught on motorways.”
It’s even been reported as far away as The Cyprus Mail that mile for mile our motorway network is the safest place to drive in the U.K. Now learner drivers will be given the opportunity to be less intimidated by motorways as a result of the new thinking on driver education.
Mr. Thorpe added that, “I was very proud to hear from the Transport Secretary that the United Kingdom has some of the safest roads in the World. But more can always be done. Vigilance and quality training are at the heart of road safety.”
Finally, the Yellow Cars Managing Direction said, “the Director of the R.A.C. informed us that 1 out of every 5 young drivers suffers a road accident within just 6 months of passing the driving test. This is a shocking statistic and the new funding will hopefully improve this terrible record dramatically. Professional training is vital just like all Yellow Cars vehicles and drivers are regulated. It’s in everyone’s interest to keep roads in our community accident free.”
The award winning Yellow Cars is honoured to celebrate 21 years in business the West Midlands in 2016. The Mayor of Walsall awarded a Yellow Cars driver for saving the life of an elderly passenger.
